PANORAMA GARDEN– Discovering Signs in an Alternative Ecosystem –
PANORAMA GARDEN – Discovering Signs in an Alternative Ecosystem – uses the Port of Nagoya area to resemble a “garden” by artists’ works pervading into the town as though creating a garden.
A “garden” is a method humans have created through time to relate with the natural environment―which also could be interpreted as a small universe exemplifying its creator's vision of the world.
A “garden” can metamorphose into a new appearance when humans give deliberate thoughts and arrangements. A “town” can alter in the same manner too, evolving day by day through accumulated human relationships and conversations. Perceiving the “town” as one ecosystem constantly in motion, this exhibition envisions artists to view the town as though a bird and deliver their artworks as though seeds, and enter interspaces in the town as though insects, aiming to leave unpredicted opportunities within the ecosystem.
This exhibition will mainly feature new works created for this occasion, which each connote features and backgrounds of the Port of Nagoya area through prudent researches and studies from various aspects. Vacant spaces left out of use in the Port of Nagoya area are utilized as exhibition rooms, which each installations and artworks would be taking full advantages of its space.
Other related programs would include pop-up cafe operations, workshops, talk events, and other occasions.
Furthermore, additional programs such as the Art Hotel Project co-planned together with accommodation facility of the Port of Nagoya area, the Akiya Saisei School (Vacant-houses Renovating School) where vacant houses were renovated through workshops with participants, and cooperation with the Minatomachi Garden Project which promote community gardens could also be viewed together with this exhibition. We cordially hope visitors will find unique expansions of this exhibition through co-productions only possible by this port town.
